Faculty of Tourism and Heritage Management
St. Basilios Theological College, established in 2023 in Dibre Berhan, Ethiopia, is one of the modern higher education institutions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC). Initially founded to provide theological education and training for clergy and lay deacons, the college has expanded its academic offerings to include undergraduate programs in Tourism and Heritage Management. These programs are designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to serve the Church and society in specialized fields while integrating spiritual and professional services.
The regular program requires five years of study (ten semesters), while the extension program spans six years (eleven semesters). The program comprises 180 credit hours, culminating in the award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Heritage Management የቱሪዝምና ቅርስ አስተዳደር ባችለር ድግሪ upon successful completion.
Objectives
- Preserve Heritage: To protect the religious and natural heritage of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
- Develop Professionals: To produce skilled professionals who can manage and promote heritage and tourism resources.
- Contribute to Socio-Religious Development: To enhance the socio-religious and economic development of the Church through heritage and tourism.
- Create Employment Opportunities: To generate income and employment opportunities for the Church and its members.
- Provide Research and Advisory Services: To equip graduates with the skills to conduct research and provide consultancy services in heritage and tourism management.
